Caroline County Board of Supervisors

Ribbon Cutting at ASI (on September 26, 2007)

Dedicating New Business from Northern Virginia

Percy Ashcraft, County Administrator

The Caroline County Board of Supervisors dedicated the opening of ASI, an architectural concrete fabricator located on Green Road in Ladysmith last Thursday to welcome the firm from Herndon to Caroline.

ASI, formerly American Stone, Inc., chose Caroline three years ago as its new home away from Northern Virginia. The entire company has moved to Caroline bringing in-bound commuters from the North and also hiring local Caroline residents. ASI hires seventy-five employees from office and professional occupations to hands-on manufacturing of the polished stone facades. ASI provides a full range of employment opportunities for Caroline.

ASI is both an office and a manufacturing site. The 36,000 sq. ft. building is could be found in any Fairfax office park, and the heavy manufacturing component is equipped with several cranes and modern fabrication tools.

Supervisors Maxie Rozell, Wayne Acors, and Calvin Taylor were on hand to cut the opening Ribbon with Company President, Dino Diana and his staff. Also on hand was the company founder, Silvio Diana.

Dino Diana remarked that Supervisor Wayne Acors had taken the time years ago to visit the Herdon operation site personally during the recruitment stage of the ASI-Caroline relationship. Supervisors Acors stated that it was important to have first hand knowledge of this type of important investment in Caroline and Ladysmith particularly.

“Everyone in Caroline worked to make this a good experience for us,” said Mr. Diana. “From recruitment to site inspection, this has been a good project.”

ASI has been in operation for some months, however, ASI’s production schedule has been so heavy that an official recognition has to wait for a brief pause in operations. The walls of ASI are lined with pictures of buildings in Northern Virginia they have produced material for.

Carline County officials anticipate a long and prosperous association with ASI.

Anyone requiring attractive, high quality architectural stone facades or structural materials should contact ASI directly in Ladysmith: 804.448.9460
