Customers and employees at Courney and Company Hair Design were thrilled. The legendary Darrell Green had just walked through the door.

"Darrell," as folks like to call him, is a former American football cornerback for the Washington Redskins who played from 1983 to 2002. Considered one of the greatest cornerbacks to ever play football, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on February 28, 2008.

When he played football, he called himself the "Itty bitty guy" and was nicknamed the "Ageless Wonder" by his fellow players and the media for playing superbly even when he got older.

Darrell was also known for his speed and was one of the fastest players in the history of the National Football League, named the World’s Fastest Athlete in 1991 and the winner of the NFL’s Fastest Man competition four times during his career.

Darrell also has a remarkable humanitarian career underway, founding the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation in 1988 which provides academic development and values-based education programs through learning centers in select urban, suburban, and rural neighborhoods throughout America. A college graduate, he has also received numerous honorary degrees for his humanitarian work.

"Darrell," on his way to King's Dominion, went into Courtney and Company Hair Design looking for a haircut and found a trusted barber in Marrion Morris, nicknamed "Money," whose space in the shop is decorated with Redskins pennants and calendars.

On Darrell's website, www.darrellgreen.com, it says he his "passionate commitment is to strengthening families and helping children" and it was about Money's family that Darrell wanted to chat.

"Darrell felt right at home here," said the shop's owner, Tracye Roberson.
