What accomplishments are you most proud of?
First, the creation and continued success of the Summer Jobs Program. This Program gives High School and College youth an opportunity to work in various Government offices. In some cases, this can be an opportunity that changes their lives and they might consider returning to County service.
As a leading proponent of the project, I am very pleased with the successful renovation of the Old Middle School. This is now the beautiful Community Services Center and something all County residents can be proud of. Saving a historical structure and renovating it was an excellent investment compared to the demolition costs. The Community Center currently houses offices for Fire and Rescue, Parks and Rec, RAAA and Social Services. Also available to the community are the Library, a beautiful auditorium and several conference rooms.
One other accomplishment would be getting VDOT to make temporary improvements to the I95/207 interchange. The VDOT master plan does not have the major improvements scheduled for at least 5 years. County residents could not wait that long but by working with VDOT we will have some relief to the traffic problems beginning this summer. |
