CAROLINE PARKS AND RECREATION
PROGRAM POLICIES
All of our programs have set deadlines to allow us ample time to plan. Please help us by registering by the deadline.
  • Late registrations are accepted only when there are openings.
  • We reserve the right to cancel a program if numbers are not sufficient.
  • Refunds are automatic when a program is canceled.
  • We reserve the right to establish minimum and maximum enrollments for programs.
  • Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Caroline Parks & Rec. will issue refunds only in the event that a program is canceled due to lack of participation or for medical reasons of the participants. Refunds will be pro-rated as to time of termination.

REGISTRATION FORMS
Registration for each program is one month in advance of the listed month on a first come first serve basis. Call for additional programming information. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTRATION FORMS TO YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOL. THE SCHOOLS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING THE FORMS TO US. Please fill out and return your form by mail to Caroline County Parks & Recreation at PO Box 447, Bowling Green, VA 22427 or in person to 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford (In the Community Services Center Building).

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
In order for us to be successful in making this a healthier and more delightful Community, we believe it is essential that we take a collaborative approach.

This approach consist of you assisting the department in promoting and encouraging others to take advantage of the services that are provided on this calendar.

Our department, especially in the youth activities relies heavy on volunteers. This is for the purpose of:
  1. making a friendlier environment;
  2. assisting in the growth and development of the children of this community;
  3. displaying benevolence.


We welcome all volunteer help in assisting with our growing programs. If you have special skills in fitness, coaching, officiating, health & wellness, dance, etc. that you would like to share, please call the Department of Parks & Recreation at (804) 633-7277.




DISCOUNTS
These services were organized with careful consideration given towards the admission fees. It is our desire that each individual will have many opportunities to participate in programs organized by the Department of Parks and Recreation.

POSTPONEMENTS & CANCELLATIONS
Our department shares facilities with the public schools and must cancel programs when facilities are not available. Locations, dates and times of programs may sometimes change to avoid conflicts with scheduled school events. For cancellations, listen to VA 101.5 FM or WFLS 93.3 FM call 804-633-7277.

SUGGESTIONS
Please feel free to call or email us with any new ideas and suggestions which could add to our programs. Our programs are for the citizens of this county, and we would like to hear from you.

CAMP EXPLORE

Ballet
Tap/Ballet: 8 Week Session


Fee: $35.00 p/p            $45 after deadline:          Deadline: Aug. 31

Locations, Times, & Description below:
September 14, 2010  (Tuesdays at Caroline High)  (blue cafeteria)

Ages:
3-5yr at 4pm   or  3-5yr at 5pm;   These Combination Classes are free flowing, designed to    develop dance/movement skills and maintain interest.  No tap shoes required.

6-9yr at 6pm: This is a beginners class; No previous experience. Tap & Ballet shoes required.

-OR -

September 16, 2010:  (Thursdays at the Caroline Diversified Learning Center formerly Ladysmith Elementary building)(Cafeteria)  

 Ages:
3&4yr at 4pm: This class is designed to develop dance/movement skills and maintain interest. No tap shoes required.

5&6yr at 5pm: Previous experience in ballet; some experience in Tap. Tap & Ballet shoes required.

7-9yr at 6pm: Previous experience in Ballet; some experience in Tap. Tap & Ballet shoes    required.

10-16yr at 7pm: Advance Dancers; Hardworking class; Must have  experience in tap, jazz,   ballet; Must know basic steps. Tap & Ballet shoes required.

Dress Code:  No jeans; Only moveable clothing such as leotards, sweats, etc. NO bare midriff tops.                                                    
Due to the limit on spaces available, students are accepted on a first come first serve basis.

Description:

Students learn about the materials and tools, planning a painting, techniques, color basics and mixing of colors, and light and shadow using water colors and/or acrylics. Basic drawing skills such as composition, proportion, placement and shading; Class assignments are age appropriate and are geared to help the individual child express his/her own creative ideas at their level of artistic ability. Divisions
Flag: Ages: 6 -8 (8 year old flag must be 1st time players)
JV Tackle: Ages: 8-10 (max weight 135 lbs.)
Varsity tackle: Ages: 11-13 (max weight 155lbs).
Must be ages by September 1, 2010. Birth certificate must be shown at time of registration. Teams will participate in the Rappahannock River Youth Football League; participants are required to travel to other localities.

Zumba
Celebrate Life Day
Zumba is a high energy cardio workout that incorporates Latin and International dance styles that will have you moving and grooving the entire hour. The choreography is simple and easy to follow; there are only 4 steps that will repeat. Participants typically burn between 400-800 calories in a one hour Zumba fitness class. The workout targets the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals, and most importantly, the heart.
