All of our programs have set deadlines to allow us ample time to plan. Please help us by registering by the deadline.

Late registrations are accepted only when there are openings.
We reserve the right to cancel a program if numbers are not sufficient.

In order for us to be successful in making this a healthier and more delightful Community, we believe it is essential that we take a collaborative approach.

This approach consist of you assisting the department in promoting and encouraging others to take advantage of the services that are provided on this calendar.

Our department, especially in the youth activities relies heavy on volunteers. This is for the purpose of:

making a friendlier environment;

assisting in the growth and development of the children of this community;

displaying benevolence.

We welcome all volunteer help in assisting with our growing programs. If you have special skills in fitness, coaching, officiating, health & wellness, dance, etc. that you would like to share, please call the Department of Parks & Recreation at (804) 633-7277.


These services were organized with careful consideration given towards the admission fees. It is our desire that each individual will have many opportunities to participate in programs organized by the Department of Parks and Recreation.


Our department shares facilities with the public schools and must cancel programs when facilities are not available. Locations, dates and times of programs may sometimes change to avoid conflicts with scheduled school events. Please feel free to call or email us with any new ideas and suggestions which could add to our programs. Our programs are for the citizens of this county, and we would like to hear from you.

Teens F.I.E.R.C.E. About Skills Camp




Theme: "Sunshine KidZ"

Description: Enjoy arts and crafts, fun sport competitions, organized games, thematic special events, and weekly field trips at this enrichment camp.

Dates: May 26 - July 10, 2015 (Monday through Friday except Holidays)

For Ages: 5 - 12. 5 year olds must have completed kindergarten.

Enrollment Deadline: May 8, 2015 or until filled.

Time:9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Before Care: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. for a one time additional fee of $50.00

This program will offer a wide variety of activities for teens in a safe, friendly and supervised environment. Activities will include sports, games, music, trips and just hanging out with your friends. Participants will develop and refine skills in areas such as leadership, teamwork and socializaiton skills.

D.I.V.A.S. with Promise (Devoted Individuals Valuing Another & Self)

Description: Girls' mentoring program that provides leadership, build self-esteem, etiquette, and opportunities for community outreach

For: Girls in grades 6 - 12th

B.A.L.M. (Becoming a Leading Man): (Boys Mentoring Program)

For grades 3rd - 5th

Description: Our young males are faced with challenges of all kinds on a daily basis, but through mentoring we hope they will make   productive choices, build healthy relationships, give back to their  community, resolve conflict and become leading males.   Participants will also be taken occasionally on field trips. your child will meet one evening a the Community Services Center once a  month during the school year from 6:00-8:00 pm; beginning October 15th.

*A fee will be required for field trips.

Karate (Isshinryu)

Karate Girl

Learn the fundamental techniques and the history of isshinryu karate, self-defense, discipline, as well as, stretching exercises. Upon successful completion of this course, students will demonstrate basic hand and kicking techniques.

Description: Participant will have the opportunity to learn surprising things about hooks, yarn, read basic patterns and diagrams, make samples of stitch patterns and learn to write simple instructions for personal designs.

Hunter Safety

Description:The 6-8 hour Basic Hunter Education Course covers material on hunting safety, principles of conservation, and sportsmanship. This course is usually 6-8 hours in length but students are required to complete the self-study prior to class. Although students do NOT have to prove completion of self-study, the final exam will include material covered in the self-study portion. More information on the 6-8 hour course can be found here.

Spring Soccer League
Description: This league is designed to enhance social development, teach and improve the various skills and knowledge pertaining to the game of soccer in a fun, recreational atmosphere. Games will be scheduled for Saturday mornings. Practice will be held once a week before games begin. Practice day and time will be determined by the coach. Uniforms will be issued out by the department all other equipment will have to be provided by parents.

Lil' Kickers Soccer
Description: Soccer, fun and fundamentals, non-competitive introduction to the game of soccer and a great way to introduce your child to this popular sport. Children are randomly divided into groups and will be involved in drills along with playing small-sided scrimmage games. Shin guards are required. T-shirt fo each participant.

"Bulldog" Football Skills Clinic

Description: Thinking about joining the parks and recreation "Bulldogs" football program...this clinic is to provide basic fundamental instruction for all offensive and defensive positions and condition drills relative to the game of football. Our goal is that each participant gains a beter understanding of the football positions through various skills and drills. Participants need to bring a water bottle, cleats or tennis shoes, and a bag to keep personal belongings in each day. Quarterbacks are encouraged to bring their own league regulation ball if they have one with their name on it.

Port Royal Museum & Schoolhouse Tour

Description:  Experience an authentic collection of items from regional Native Americans, Colonial times, Civil War history, and Presidential memorabilia - all in Historic Port Royal. Also, visit the schoolhouse and learn its history and significance in the lives of many African American children in Caroline from 1924-1959.

Description:  Sidney E. King murals and paintings belonging to the National Park Service. These paintings were commissioned by the National Park Service approximately 30 years ago. In addition to displaying Mr. Kings works the Bowling Green Arts Commission promotes the arts by selling art work by local artists and scheduling classes for all age groups. The Caroline Historical Society has prepared extensive exhibits of local historical significance.

"Get Up & Move Something!" Walking Program

Description: Instead of sitting an hour while you wait for your child to practice their sport or activity, utilize that time to Get Up and Move Something! Register wit the Parks and Rec Department to participate in this effort to encourage fitness, eliminate inactivity, and maintaining healthy bodies. More information will be provided at the orientation of your child's program.

Begins: Start up of child's activity

Caroline Rec Park -
During Soccer, Football, or Cheerleading Practices, utilize the fields by walking the outside perimeter of where the kids practice, walk the walking trail or walk a mile or two around the high school track (4 times around=1 mile).

Former Diversified Learning Center (Ladysmith) -
During Karate and Tap & Ballet, utilize that time and walk the track (5 times around).

Description: Zumba is a high energy cardio workout that incorporates Latin and International dance styles that will have you moving and grooving the entire hour. The choreography is simple and easy to follow; there are only 4 steps that will repeat. Participants typically burn between 400-800 calories in a one hour Zumba fitness class. The workout targets the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals, and most importantly, the heart.

Ages: 14 and above
