Solid Waste Convenience Sites
To Close Wednesdays Effective August 4
Caroline County Solid Waste Convenience Sites will be closed every Wednesday, effective August 4.
The Board of Supervisors approved the change at its July 13 meeting. The Board also approved keeping the sites open at regular hours after initially agreeing to shorten the hours as a cost-saving measure.
Closing the sites on Wednesdays will help the County recoup $95,000 in savings that was outlined in the annual Budget adopted by the Board of Supervisors in May.
“The Board of Supervisors sees this as the best way to deal with the situation and least impact the residents who rely on the convenience sites to dispose of their trash,” commented County Administrator Percy Ashcraft. “Regular hours will be observed the rest of the days.”
The hours of operation are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Ashcraft encouraged residents not to leave their trash outside of the gates of the convenience sites on Wednesdays or any other time the sites are not open. This creates problems in opening the sites the next day and can also be a littering violation.
Residents are urged to direct any questions to the Department of Public Utilities at (804) 633-4386.
